lately it's been not-so-quiet

The internet has been wonky lately and I just haven't had time to update my blog! I am very sorry! However, I am checking in to say that we are doing great! We are having fun visiting with family and still looking for a job, so your continued prayers are very much appreciated! We went on a tryout this past Sunday, and after that we visited with friends Kyle and Kellee {who is literally due for their first child any day now... she is 40 weeks today - Wednesday!!}, and we had a family day in Chattanooga as we took Benjamin to the Creative Discovery Museum! We had gone there 3 years ago as we had honeymooned in Chattanooga. It was fun to bring Benjamin back there and watch him explore! I must say he enjoyed it a LOT!

What is Benjamin doing? Well I think all these changes are getting to him and he has been having a hard time with expressing agitation - meaning, he's been having mini tantrums and quite frankly Mommy is tired of it! So hopefully soon that will pass. We have another trip planned for this weekend, back down to Fort Valley to settle a few things and visit our friends and then off to visit Carl's family. I think once we settle down and just sort of chill out at home for a while, after all this traveling is done {unless of course there are more tryouts in our future, in that case, by all means let us travel!!}, Benjamin will start acting more like himself. I am just hoping this weekend goes okay for him!

Oh, we also found out Benjamin takes after me and is visibly allergic to cats. Go figure.

I do have photos to share but perhaps I will do that at a later time. I wanted to share one photo taken in Tennessee:

I don't know if this is a weed or what, but Benjamin carried it around for a long time that afternoon. I guess these little dudes will start dying off soon because of the lovely cold front that has come through, and I don't say this sarcastically! The break from the heat has been SO NICE!

I hope you all have a lovely Wednesday!

Check out more lovely photos at Hannah's blog, too!

Rambling On {and on and on and on…}

As most of you know, we have recently made our move. And for those of you who are just joining us or are catching up, here’s the skinny: hubby lost his job, and as our rent + utilities were costing us a pretty penny we decided the best thing for us was to move. It just so happens that I have amazing parents who are willing to take us in for as long as needed {if I could express the amount of gratitude I feel, I would – but there are seriously no words to describe how this makes me feel!}, and so while hubby is searching for a new job, we are with them. The thing is, hubby is about 10 years too young for most places to consider him, or 10 years too inexperienced! I know, we don’t understand it either, and it is very frustrating, especially when you know your husband is the best preacher ever {heehee, preachers wives….}!!

Anyway, so that is where we are now. We are at my parents’, we are praying for an open door {and it would be nice to have your prayers as well!}, and we are staying positive! We are trying to be patient, but as they say, “Patience is a Virtue, Virtue is a Grace, and Grace is a little girl who wouldn’t wash her face!” {um, yeah, whatever that means!}

The weekend so was great though! We got in Friday evening just in time for dinner! Perfect timing, if you ask me! We had spent the morning finishing up our packing and storing and mostly for me cleaning. I vacuumed like 20 times. By the time we were on the road we were exhausted! Two and a half hours later, we were home – at least it is a place we can call home because we are with people we love. Besides, I spent a good nearly 10 years here. In fact, the room we are sleeping in was mine as a teenager. The lime green walls have been painted over, though. Rats!…

Benjamin is adjusting well. He has been sick this weekend but hopefully soon he will be back to normal. He doesn’t let his sickness keep him down. He has been his entertaining, curious, hilarious, loving self. He loves Bailey, the dog, and is always talking about him. It is definitely new to him to be living with a pet and I think he enjoys it. I just hope Bailey doesn’t get tired of him, if you know what I mean!!

Saturday hubby spoke at the congregation here’s youth day. He spoke on Bad Science {i.e. – evolution, carbon dating, etc}, and he did an awesome job if I do say so myself! The other speakers were brother Adam Cozort who used to preach in a town close to where hubby used to preach, and brother Gary Young, who is a preacher from Australia! It was very good to see both again, especially Gary because I hadn’t seen him since like 2006! Anyway, Adam did a lesson called “Walking Among Dinosaurs”, which basically gave evidence that dinosaurs walked alongside man {while so many love to say it was millions of years in between the two – we know that God created EVERYTHING in 6 literal days [Gen 1], and that means that man and dinosaurs were created on the same day – day 6} looking at historical artifacts and also passages in the Bible. Gary’s lesson was about how the Bible historically matches perfectly with our world history, which validates that the Bible is NOT a fairytale that was written so many years after all was said and done. It is just amazing all the evidence out there that confirms that what we have is in fact the Word of God and it can be trusted! It was a very uplifting day!

Yesterday we worshiped with the saints here and Gary had the Bible class hour, which he took talking about the church of Christ in Tasmania and all the work going on there. He also did the sermon, which was about the allegedly “lost” books of the Bible – which is, in his words, gobbledygook. Last night we heard a sermon from Brother Jimmie Hill from the book of Jeremiah chapter two, about how Israel had strayed, and how we can and sometimes do put other things above Christ and God, and how this is idolatry. After services there was a youth devo and my friend Enisha taught the girls class and I must say she did a wonderful job. She is a senior in high school and I was just so impressed! I got to hang out with Amanda and enjoyed that thoroughly! Hopefully I will see her and the other ladies at Monroe on Friday! I also really loved spending time with my friend Madeline who has been one of my best friends since High School! I love her dearly!

So as you can see, we are all getting on pretty well here. We are so blessed with wonderful family and friends and I really am at ease and confidant that we are on the Lord’s timing, not our own! And for now I am going to enjoy where we are and who we are with.

Today we took Gary to lunch at … Outback Steakhouse – isn’t that funny? If you remember, he is the Australian! Ha! When the waitress came up and suggested a “bloomin’ onion” or some “shrimp on the barbie” as appetizers, I think Gary was holding back laughter. Apparently, they do not regularly say “shrimp on the barbie” and they certainly don’t call it “shrimp” – it’s “prawns”. It was a lot of fun just spending time with each other and talking about the differences between the USA and Australia. Hubby and I have been talking about sometime in the future going to Australia for mission work. Who knows!

I hope you all have a beautiful week! I am going to be working on a new design here in honor of the upcoming season change {by the way, the news said today that we are at about 10 degrees higher than the seasonal norm… I cannot believe we are still in the 90’s! that is just WRONG!} – so look out for that!

Benjamin, you are 20 Months old!!

Benjamin, my sweet boy, this has been a very busy month for all of us. We have all experienced changes and growth and all sorts of new adventures! The biggest adventure of all has been moving away from our first house as a family of three. It was bittersweet and I do admit that I shed some tears as I looked out into the spot in the yard where we had our first picnic. We had a lot of great memories there, Benjamin, and I am so glad to have taken as many pictures as I have of you in our first home. It makes moving on so much easier! We are off to another chapter in our life as a family and it is exciting!

Although you are getting to be such a big boy, you are barely fitting in your 18 month clothes! You do pretty good fitting in most 18 Month shirts but you definitely don't fit the pants, and sometimes you don't even fit the 12 month pants! This is very surprising to us because we assumed you would take after your daddy but this is not so! You are a very small boy although you are pretty chunky. You wore a 6-9 months onesie to Disney World in July, so you are just a little fella.

You are such a beautiful child! You are so beautiful that you still get comments from people who think you are a girl... Madness, right? I don't see it. ha! I know eventually your blonde hair will darken, but for now you are my sweet, blonde-haired, blue-eyed boy and you are just so precious! You have the cutest little smile and the bluest little eyes. You are such a happy child, you glow from the inside out! My sunshine!

You are still severely allergic to eggs! In fact whenever you get sick we just assume that it is because of eggs, though this last time it is apparent that you had some sort of tummy bug, but you are feeling a lot better and we are so thankful for that! You are rarely ever sick so when you are it's almost like we don't know what to do with ourselves. Being sick doesn't slow you down though, except with your eating! You are always going, going, gone! You climb everything and then jump off, you run around in circles and stomp and dance... you are our daily entertainment!

You are such a chatty fella! I won't even attempt listing all the words that you say now, but you have learned a few more recently. You call for Bailey, Nana and Papaw's dog {in fact you asked for him first thing this morning, "Woof woof! Woof woof! Bailey?"}, and you ask for Ming Ming sometimes as well, that duck from Wonderpets. You seem to learn a few new words every day. You also know a few shapes as well because you seem to be more interested in those. You love to draw and recently you have been drawing bainbows {rainbows} and woof-woof {dogs} - they both look the same but you can tell the difference, can't you?

We love you so much, Benjamin, and we love to see you grow and learn and love each and every day!

We made it!

I just wanted to check in and tell you all that we have moved and we have made it! I am so glad to be done with the packing and cleaning and moving! While the future is unknown for us and uncertain, we are still optimistic and I feel more relaxed now than I have in a few weeks! This is where our next chapter begins!

I will hopefully be able to blog more now that the move is done with. Starting with Benjamin's 20 Month Post! Time sure is flying!

Take care, y'all! Have a blessed Lord's Day!

Far Above Rubies: Proverbs 31:26

Far Above Rubies

I missed it again last week, I am so sorry! This week is going to be crazy but I am going to take some time this morning to do this study and then dive into my week. I have to finish up packing SOON! We move Thursday or Friday {preferably Friday}. But this is a really nice way to start out my day. I hope you all decide to join in too! We will be looking at Proverbs 31:26 this week.

"She openeth her mouth with wisdom;
and in her tongue is the law of kindness."
- Proverbs 31:26

This virtuous woman not only takes care of all her household duties {and then some!} but she is also counted on for wise counsel of others. She is kind toward others. This is the kind of woman you know you can go to and you won't feel like she's going to turn around and badmouth you, if you know what I mean!

The tongue is a really hard thing to tame. You can read the book of James and find that out quickly! It is so easy to let things just slip off, and I know that I am guilty from time to time! The Virtuous woman is not a slanderer, a back-biter, a gossiper, or even a nagger to her husband and others! All such things are very destructive!! People who you know have tendencies to gossip or who don't put into action the law of kindness are not people who you go to for wise counsel. This virtuous woman IS someone you can go to, though!

I wonder if this virtuous woman ever prayed the prayer the psalmist did in Psalm 17:3 -
"Though you probe my heart and examine me at night,
though you test me, you will find nothing;
I have resolved that my mouth will not sin."

We should always strive to be like the virtuous woman, who can be depended upon and can be confided in without worry - we need to resolve not to sin with our mouths!

I can't wait to read your thoughts on this! I hope you all have a great week and strive to keep a law of kindness on your tongue!

Come on, Vamanos!

We had a party today for Benjamin {and us} since we are leaving next week. It was Dora-themed, and we called it our "Vamanos!" party {Let's Go!}. It was a lot of fun!

{Benny helped on that one heehee}

{My WONDERFUL, HANDSOME, LOVING, SWEET husband did the streamers! I Love them so much I haven't taken them down! hehe!}

{You know, just in case Swiper showed. Though Benjamin did a good job swiping a few plates off......}

{Juice and Choco Milk for the kiddos}

{Making sure all his favorite toys are there to share with his friends}

{Mariah, Ben, and Ella}

I honestly did not get as many pictures as I should have, being the good-bye party... but we were having a great time conversing and watching the kids play. These pictures certainly don't show all of the guests that came {And THANK YOU to those who did - it meant the world to us, seriously!!!}. Benjamin's friends Landon and Brysen also came and played for a while.

We are really going to miss our friends here and it really does break my heart that we are having to leave behind so many of our friends, and also Benjamin's friends. I can't really explain how I feel about that. I know it's not going to end his world because he is too young to understand this stuff, but I know how much he loves his friends. I just hope that wherever we end up, Benjamin can have friends even HALF as wonderful as the ones he has here. {I'm tearing up, y'all!}

To the mothers and fathers of Landon & Brysen, Mariah, and Ella... we truly are going to miss you and your sweet darling children. I mean that so sincerely!

Isn't God so wonderful for blessing us with relationships?

Well now that I have thoroughly bummed myself out... in a ... good? way.....

1 week till moving day.

Bring.

It.

On.

flying by!

Has it really been a week? I really can't believe it. This past week has flown by and I can't believe we are nearly two weeks into September already. To catch you all up to speed, we should be moving out in ten days. Or less than. So we have been so very, very busy packing and moving stuff into storage.

We've been playing pretty hard too. Benjamin asks all day long to go play outside with the chalk. I feel really bad for not being able to do that as much as I would like to and certainly not as much as he would like to, but I am sure if he was older, he would be able to understand better. He has been having fun though. He likes to climb all over the boxes and play with the different odd things we find.

Ten days y'all. New adventure, that's what I keep telling myself. And it's true. It's just kind of scary to not know how long we're going to be there.

Life is good, though. God is good, always. Things are going to work out, and this world is not my home anyway.
