Of Fairs, Pumpkins, and Allergies

This weekend was so busy. I am feeling a little bit drained and wishing I had an IV of caffeine running in me constantly. That, or a Starbucks on the corner of our street. Or within walking distance. Or within 5 miles. Or, you know, anywhere in the city.

Sigh.

Anyway, Friday we went to the fair again to work at the booth. Kayla and Mariah were able to come this time so Benjamin had a friend to play with and then stroll with. Mariah is so busy, and Benjamin is so laid back. But Ben gets really excited around her and just wants to tackle her and hug on her and kiss on her. He just loves her to death! I show him pictures of her and he just grins. So sweet. They are like night and day but they are so precious together. I can't wait to watch them grow up together as best friends.

Watch out, Ben! There's a hand behind you!

It was sooooo cold. I just realized, too, that in this picture Benjamin looks just like his daddy, besides the blonde hair.

The ginormous horse I was telling you about ... it's back was as tall as my husband, who is around 6'7". That's tall.

Benjamin and his best friend, Mariah.

He wouldn't stop tackling her! He just loves her!

Can't you tell he absolutely adores her?

Don't worry, Mariah. I'd run away too if I were being tackled and poked and grabbed constantly. :)
--------

Yesterday we had planned to meet up with our friends at Lanes for the Pumpkin patch and possibly the corn maze. One couple said they couldn't make it with their little daughter, so we just met up with Chris and Kayla and Mariah! Hubby's brother Preston was with us as well. We had dinner and then went out to find that the Corn Maze was $10 and the pumpkin patch was pitiful. Disappointing trip but it was nice to spend time with our friends again.

My handsome boy on his way to the pumpkin patch.

Isn't that the funniest expression!?

A Ben-sized pumpkin.

Sweet.

"Can I have yours too, Mariah?"

"What do you think you're doing, Ben!"

"Mommy! Ben tried to take my pumpkin!" (Actually, we think she just didn't like the straw)

"What did I do?"

"I think I will have this one."

Isn't he just precious?

Dinner.

Mariah is adorable!

I'm sure there were better pumpkin selections when it first opened up...

All bundled up

My pumpkin ...

Zinnia.

Instead, we went back to the house and the babies played (until Ben took a nap) and the adults had some good fun playing Apples to Apples and then watching some cooking show.

Playing together.

Isn't Mariah just the cutest!!

Checking out Ben's toy selection.

Mariah and her mommy.

Sharing Ben's toy.

Sharing is caring!

Gorgeous!

-------

Today we had Bible class and Worship ... Ben had an allergic reaction to the eggs I had for breakfast and had shared a few bites with him. He had hives around his mouth but that cleared up with a little Tylenol. It was nothing compared to the time he had that allergic reaction to Zesty Tomato crunchies, though! During the second service he had bad diarrhea so I took him out to the car early to get strapped in so we could leave as soon as possible. We gave him a bath and some allergy medicine, and then he played with his Poppa (Hubby's dad) for a little while until I decided he needed to be nursed and then laid down to take a nap. And he's been asleep since - nearly 2 hours later!

Now, the house is quiet as our guests have left, and begging me to tidy up some, but sorry! I'm going to relax and get rid of this headache!

I hope you all have had a blessed weekend, and hope you all have a wonderful, wonderful week! Ben's 9 month birthday is Monday and his Well-Baby Check up is Tuesday! Hubby is going to be speaking in Chapel for the Middle Georgia Christian School tomorrow morning and Lord Willing, Ben and I will attend that too! I love hearing Hubby speak! He is my favorite preacher!

Before I go - a BIG birthday shout out to my friend Dawn! Hopefully we will see you tonight, Dawn! Y'all go wish her a happy birthday!

Turn and Face the Strange

Announcement:

It probably goes without saying ... you've probably already noticed ...

Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes!*

Yes, I've worn off the last of my energy working on a fresh update (color) for the blog. I love bright colors and the last green was looking more and more like wilted lettuce every time I looked at it. Not that I am very familiar with wilting lettuce ... I mean it isn't like we just leave heads of lettuce untouched for so long that they begin to wilt ...

Ahem.

Anyway ... I made a new button to match the new color green, so you can either keep the one you had (if you had it up) or replace it with this fresh new one! Up to you! And if you haven't grabbed it yet, go for it! If you have a button you'd like up on my list of buttons, let me know and I'll put it up. I am all for button exchanges! Sometimes you have to prod me because I don't always remember.

Today:

We went to the fair again! And let me tell you, we were definitely feeling the "global warming" as we froze our faces off out here in Middle Georgia! I wore 2 shirts, a hoodie, and a jacket. And still froze! Anyway, it was a good time, and I spent a lot of time with my good friend Kayla just chatting - something I really, really enjoyed!

Benjamin did the following at the fair:

(Excuse the quality of the photos ... they were taken with my cell phone. I did get to take a few photos with my camera before the batteries died on me!)

Saw the BIGGEST horse ever. I'll upload my pictures from the camera later and you'll see exactly how big this horse was!

Ate a snack on the floor.

Played with his best friend, the precious and beautiful and bubbly Mariah.

Looked at some really big pigs.

Tomorrow:

Pumpkin Patch with Mariah and her mommy and daddy! We are so excited! I've just got to remember to pick up batteries before then! I get to break out my $120 pea coat that I bought last Spring for - get this - $6, plus s&h! Seriously, folks. SIX DOLLAS! I just can't wait to show you! I'd show you now, but ... dead batteries. You'll just have to wait!

Right Now:

I'm pooped.

I hope you all have a blessed, wonderful, fantastic, warm weekend!

* Random trivia: I used to go by the nickname Bowie because I was a huge fan of David Bowie and wore David Bowie pins on my jacket.

Fix It Friday - Oct 16, 2009

This is my first Fix It Friday, and my first time participating in I Heart Faces, but I gotta tell you ... I have fallen in love with the blog already! I think we all know how I love photography, and along with that I love editing photos!

This week's Fix It Friday is of this ADORABLE little girl ... I wonder how old she is and how far away she lives ... Matchmaker, Matchmaker ...

I kid. Benjamin already has an intended!

Anyway ... here are my edits! I did 6 because I'm obsessed. Click on the smaller pictures for full-size.

Outstanding and Everlasting

Precious lord, take my hand
Lead me on, let me stand
I'm tired, I'm weak, I'm lone
Through the storm, through the night
Lead me on to the light
Take my hand precious lord, lead me home

When my way grows drear precious lord linger near
When my light is almost gone
Hear my cry, hear my call
Hold my hand lest I fall
Take my hand precious lord, lead me home

When the darkness appears and the night draws near
And the day is past and gone
At the river I stand
Guide my feet, hold my hand
Take my hand precious lord, lead me home

Precious lord, take my hand
Lead me on, let me stand
I'm tired, I'm weak, I'm lone
Through the storm, through the night
Lead me on to the light
Take my hand precious lord, lead me home.

I find so much comfort in the fact that I am never alone in my trials and problems.

"...and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world." Matthew 28:20

Comforting. Amazing. Christ's words, His teachings, His love. Outstanding and Everlasting. Christ is with me, and my soul is at peace.

Praise, Prayers, and Pleasantries

Praise the Lord we had two people baptized into Christ Tuesday afternoon - what a blessed day! One woman and her daughter that Carl had gone over to study with. The woman is a bit elderly and says she has bladder cancer and COPD, and doesn't know how much longer she has on this earth and wanted to make sure she spent the rest of her days here on earth living right in the eyes of God! What an example! I am so excited to be calling them Sister Patsie and Sister Becky!

That being said, please keep Patsie in your prayers. She was not feeling very well today and the doctor told her to keep off her feet the next few days. I do believe more testing is to be done in the future. She does need your prayers, though!

It truly is days like that that make me feel so very blessed to be in the ministry - to be the wife of a preacher. It isn't always easy, but I feel like our lives are enriched because of it. And I am so blessed to have so many other friends in the ministry as well. I miss Memphis! But I love it here!

Afterward we were invited out to a Member's house - the neighbor and kin to the family who took in our sweet Davey, if you remember this post. After a good time of fellowship and food, we ventured over and said hello to Davey. I haven't announced it here yet, but in about 20-something days, Davey is going to be a poppa rabbit! Don't get too excited, though, because they eat the offspring. As long as they don't eat Davey - I am fine with that!

It was good to see our dear rabbit, though.

Anyway, other than that, last night I got around to ordering Benjamin's Halloween costume. It still remains a mystery to most of you (and shush! to those of you who do know!) - and you are welcome to make your guesses! I will reveal it on Halloween! I know, I am so mean.

I'm exhausted - as usual! It's been a tiresome week and it's only halfway over! Really I think all this rain we've been getting is what's making it feel so tiresome! We need a little sunshine! Got any to spare, y'all? Or are y'all in the same boat (har har) as we are?
