“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
Matthew 16:33
Life is difficult sometimes. It is heartbreaking to see the state that the world is in, with the perversions that exist. Sometimes it is overwhelming because we Christians have been commissioned to fight that. We’re to go out and spread the good news in a world of bad news and sometimes it is just so overwhelming, especially when the good news is not the popular thing to be spreading in this day and age.
But Christ has given us this gem of hope. “I have overcome the world.” Because of this, we can be of good cheer and we can have peace. Christ has already won the victory, that much is certain. He has vanquished the final enemy: death.
Christ has already told us that He is always with us (Matthew 28:20). God is on our side!
“What shall we then say to these things?
If God be for us, who can be against us?”
Romans 8:31
We can fight! God is with us, Christ is with us, and we know then that we are on the winning team. We have hope, while the enemy has none. We can have peace, while the enemy can have none. Be of good cheer.
